Landscaping Built on Quality, Trust, and Local Expertise

Designed by Eric, our founder and lead designer, and installed by our own crew. Every plan is built for how your landscape will look in ten years, not just on planting day.

Designed for Year Ten, Not Day One

Eric spaces every plant for its adult size, so a new bed looks a little open on planting day. Tap through the years and seasons, then tap a numbered plant to see why it’s there.

Year 1 · Spring

Planted at the spacing each plant needs as an adult, so day one looks a little sparse. That’s on purpose.

Spring: the serviceberry opens clusters of white flowers before its leaves.

The six plants behind this yard

Every plant in the sample yard was chosen for Maryland conditions and spaced for its adult size. Here is what each one does and why it earns its place.

  • Red maple

    Acer rubrum · canopy tree

A native shade tree that grows faster than oak, handles wet and dry soil and turns brilliant red in fall.

  • River birch

Betula nigra · canopy tree for a rain garden

It prefers moist soil and handles clay better than almost any tree, so it anchors the rain garden where the downspout drains.

  • Downy serviceberry

    Amelanchier arborea · understory tree

A Maryland native with white flowers before the leaves, then June berries the birds strip within days. It tolerates shade, wet soil and clay.

  • Mixed evergreen screen

Green Giant arborvitae with American holly · privacy layer

Fast Green Giant gives meaningful screening in two to three growing seasons while slower American holly fills in, so one pest cannot open a gap.

  • Inkberry holly

    Ilex glabra · foundation shrub

A native alternative to boxwood: evergreen, compact and free of the blight affecting boxwoods across Maryland.

  • Little bluestem

    Schizachyrium scoparium · native grass

Blue-green in summer and copper-red in fall, it holds its color through winter and is on the deer-resistant list for Bel Air conditions.

Our approach

A Design-Build Approach That Protects Quality, Budget and Timeline

Eric designs your landscape and our own crew installs it, so one team is accountable from the first walk of your property to the final walkthrough. That means clearer communication, a budget built from the actual plan and an installation that follows the design.

Designed for how you live outdoors

We start with how you will actually use the yard: morning coffee on a quiet terrace, gatherings under mature trees, separate spaces for different moods. Paths connect those spaces, layered plantings add privacy where you need it and lighting extends the evening.

Plants chosen for Maryland

Years of work in Maryland show us what thrives here. We choose plants for your soil, light and deer pressure and space them for their adult size, so the landscape grows into its design instead of outgrowing it.

A transparent process

From the first consultation through the final walkthrough, you get clear communication, detailed documentation and realistic timelines, with no subcontracted crews to coordinate.
